For patients missing a full arch of teeth, the All-on-4® dental implants method supports a denture using only four implants instead of six or eight. This technique saves time and money and can eliminate the need for bone grafting. At Knoxville Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, P.C., in Knoxville, TN, our doctors can provide All-on-4 to qualifying patients who need to replace all of their teeth in the upper jaw, lower jaw, or both. Drs. Turner P. Emery, Michael D. Wooten, and Nicole C. Eisenberg can strategically place implant posts to create a stable base for your dentures. In many cases, All-on-4 implants can support a denture immediately after they are placed.
Benefits of Implant-Supported Dentures
Eating, speaking, and smiling all become more complicated without teeth. Dentures supported by dental implants stay in place, eliminating the embarrassment and discomfort of unstable traditional dentures. In addition, implants are uniquely capable of mimicking the actions of natural tooth roots, protecting your jaw against atrophy.
Why Choose All-on-4?
For qualifying patients, All-on-4 is:
The posterior implants are angled to achieve maximum surface contact with the jaw. This gives the implants the strength to provide superior support even if your jaw has experienced some degree of atrophy. Your doctor can also place a temporary restoration immediately after your implant surgery, allowing you to enjoy immediate function and an improved quality of life.
The Placement Process
On the day of your appointment, Dr. Emery, Wooten, or Eisenberg will perform your All-on-4 procedure in our private surgical center. They will create small incisions into your gum tissue while you are under sedation and insert the four posts into your jaw bone. The front two posts are placed vertically, while the back posts are placed at a 45-degree angle. We can determine the ideal locations for your implants in advance by using scans and x-rays of your jaw.
The All-on-4 technique saves time and money, and can eliminate the need for bone grafting.
At the end of your appointment, you can leave our office with a full set of functional, natural-looking teeth. You can wear your temporary restoration for the next three to six months. During the healing period, the implants will fuse with the surrounding tissue in a process called osseointegration. Once your jaw fully heals, you will return to your dentist’s office for placement of your final restoration.
Financing Your Treatment
Typically, dental implant procedures are not covered by insurance. However, we accept financing through CareCredit® to help ensure that you are able to afford this treatment. Our friendly staff will be glad to explain this option so you can choose the most compatible financing plan.
